(PEK TRESS ASSOCIATION.) Brisbane, This Day. A pubhc meeting was held yesterday respecting the floods, at which tbe representatives of the colonies at the Postal Conference attended, by invitation. The chairman thanked the colonies for the liberal contributions that had poured in. Mr Ward undertook to convey the chair, man's statement through tbe Premier. He addressed the meeting at some length, saying New Zealand, though separated by 1200 mile:; of sea, was united to Australia by sympathies of kinship, and the recent disaster, he thought, would be the means of good arising by drawing tbem into closer uuion, and by the removal of barriers. At the inquest on the body of a young married womau named Manton, drowned in Albert Park recently while boating with ber husband, a verdict of wilful murder was returned against the husband. The couple had only beeu married a month. Deceased's parents had objected to the match and only gaye their consent on a threatened elopement. Wbere the woman was drowned there wero only 3 feet of water and this fact, coupled with the knowledge that he hed taken out a joint policy of £700, leu to suspicion being cast on him. It is stated a further attempt will be made to open up the Tichborne case. Eugene Flannery, residing at Wangaratta, seeks to prove that Roger Tichborne the real heir to the estates died in Geelong in 1853 or 1854, and was buried as a pauper. The dying man asked Flannery, who was Secretary ofthe Catholic Friendly Soci9ty, to make his will and gave the name of Roger Tichborne.
