The following additional business was transacted after wo went to press on Sat ui day list: — Resolved, That the Pemberton School Committee's tequest be granted subject to the Engineer's approval. Resolved, That the Board recommend the Vinegar Hill bridge site as the best in the interests of the eettlers, and that Govenment be asked to grant some assistance to erect tho same, say a subsidy £ for J£, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Minister of Public Works. J. Lonergan's, H. E. Atkinson's, and C. F. England's applications for bush felling wero referred to the Engineer, to report upon at next meeting. Resolved, That the Engineer request the occupiers of sections 12, 22 and 24, Sandon Small Farm block on the Waipuru road, to allow the Board to take a portion of their land for road purposes, a written agreement to be sent into the Board by next meeting. Resolved, That the accounts of A. Morgan, of Pomberton, and E. Cossey of Birmingham, for felling bush on road lines, be paid out of thirds accruing from their sections, when passed by the Engineer. The request of J. H. Anderson for a return of his deposit on Nos 2 and 3 contract Northern line, and B. Poole's letter, were held oyer for consideration at tho Board's next mooting. Proposed by Mr Jones, seconded by Mr Morton, that in reply to Mr Vila's lettef re improving Hayn's road, the Engineer be instructed to call for tenders to be iv by the Ist of April for stumping, clearing, and formation for two miles, also metalling, cutting, aud lengthening culverts, and that the Chairman, Mr Jones, and Mr Morton, be authorized to accept the tenders at a cost not to exceed £100. — Carried. j Tho Board declined to recognise the account of the Manawatu Times for advertising, on the grounds that no authority had been given by the Board to insert these advertisements. ' Resolved, That the sum of £32 18s 8d amount of thirds and rates accruing from Mr Dick's property be refunded to him in accordance with a previous resolution. Tho letter from Mr Margesson was held over for consideration at the Board's next meeting. Resolved, That Messrs Reid and Hornet sign cheques this day. Notice of motion was given, that it is in the intention of this Board at a meeting to be held on the 15th day of April 1893, to strike or levy a general rate of three farthings in the £, on the whole of the rateable property within the Board's District, such rate to be payable on the Ist day of May 1893, also to strike a separate rate of three farthings in the £, on the whole of the rateable property within tho Board's District, such rate to be parable in one sum on the Ist daj of May 1893. Rosolvod, That Mr Johnson's account be referred .to the Engineer to report upon, and that the transfer of the land be preparsd and signed before the money is paid. Resolved, That iv reply to C. Gircke'a letter ro erecting a Pound in Birmingham, he be informed that the Board is not in a position to do so at present, bat the matter will be attended to when the Board is in funds. Resolved, That the following tenders be accepted : — M. Doherty for Mangatnako road at Ids per chain, and 12s for culvert, and 10s per chain for clearing. J. Hodge' {> for Barrow's road, Us 9d per chain, C. Nathan's for Nos 2 and 3 con • tracts Northern line at £48Afbe accepted. Tenders for all other works were informal. Mr J. R. Anderson waited upon the Board, re his request for payment for bush falling on the BluS road, and was informed that the Board could not accede to the request owing to want of funds. The monthly accounts were passed for payment and the Board then adjourned.
