High Churchism
TUe tendency toward High Chim-fa-isoa iv the Established Church is at trading more and more attention. Such protests as that of tho Hw Charles Stirling, vicar of New Wnldon, who resigned receullyj are not uncommon. In his lotter oi resignation to tho Bishup of Rochester hb says: — "It is impossible for me to retain my connection with the Established Church as siio now is, with Popory taught by her clergymen on every hand, be* communion tables turned into altars, her ministers into sacrificing priosts, her churches into mass houses, aud with auricular concession inculcated and practiced, and whero it is possible, enforced. All this is douo under the eyes, with the knowledge and under the protection of; bishops who first introduce wole** in sheeps' clothing into the fold and then shield them when the floclt remonstrates. That the Church of England will be punished for her apostacy from those Protestant principles and truth of which sl»e was in better days the bulwark, is as certain as that to- morrow the sun will rise.
