Birmingham Notes
[FBOM OVB OWN COBBBSPONDIVT.] The Pohoo force of the colony seems to be very meagre as by the papers published near aud in Palmerston, extra constables, or mounted troopers, are badlj required. It seems strange that only onetnan should have charge of the whole of Feildjng, Kiwitee, Birmingham, Pemberton, and goodness knows how many other plabeq. There is a talk of a travelling 'saw null' being about to visit these tarts. If thie place was not so hilly and the land a bit clearer, there is plenty of first class timber to cut up and some splendid totara wood oould be obtained. It seems a great pity to see these valuable logs beiog simply destroyed by fires or decay.;There is shortly to be a orioket uajEoh in the grouudszof-Mr A. Perry» ■ lotSaw?tea, who. has kindly invited the young mon of the district. Bemembenng^o happy time spent last yoar.when ;s> similar occorrance took place, it wf» ha hoped that the weather will be fi,ue pn day so all may enjoy the hospitality of the genial host and hostess. .-■■..;: .
