Manchester Road Board

The ordinary monthly meeting of the i bore Board was held on Saturday last. Present.— Messrs Lethbridge (Chairman), Pearce, Reeve, Purkiss, and Wheeler. The minutes of the last meeting were •oad and confirmed. The following correspondence was then •cad : — Prom C. Fanlhorpe, applying for a re« lewal of his slaughtering licence at Haliombe. From H, C. Wilson, Stanway, enquirng if the Board has legal authority to tuppress the dock nuisance on tho roads. From Gardner Bros., AshursMomardi^ ng a cheque for £10 being part cost of •emotmg toll gate as per agreement. ; • . ; From the undermentioned requesting r :o be placed on the rate roll : — W. From the Palmerafon North Hospital , Board, stating that they cau find board for charitable aid. patients at 10a per week, From the Colonial Secretary, stating that the special order re levying a special rate appeared in the Gazette of the 16th February. ' / From the Treasury, stating that a halfyear's interest on £25,709 12s Id amounting to £642 14s lid is now due. From K. Reed of Palmerston, stating' s? that he has only just discovered that for | some ten years past he has been paying , ; 8/9 a year too much for certain property which be now finds does not belong to him. " ' Resolved, That a slaughtering licence : be granted to C, Fanthorpe as requested.- ' Resolved, That the following names be placed on the rate roll as requested ; W. Paklowski in lieu of Ellen Lickfold, ■„ D. Lycch in place of W. M. Flyger, and T. Shortall in lieu of O. C. Pleasants. Resolved, That the Engineer report on - what work is required on McCrae 8 road, and the cost of the same. , Mr Reeve stated that in the township of Asburst there is a small triangular piece of land at the junction <of. the Feildmg and Pohangina roads, which requires filling in and draining, Mr. Reeve further state that the Ashurst residents were willing to pay half the cost if the Board would bear the rest of the outlay. Resolved, That Mr Ward be informed . in regard to his request, that this Board is willing to take over the roads as desired on condition that a road be' laid off joining New and Mulgrave streets, and that the roads be formed and metalled: 46 feet, and that the Board is willing to „r , .< pay 10s per chain to carry the road on to an outlet subject to the approval of the Engineer, aud the Board to be freed from/ | any further claim. | Mr Remington waited upon the Board, with a request that they would /widen the Penelope road, which at present is only a bridle track, and it is impossible to get a vehicle to his place. Resolved, That the following metalling tenders be accepted :— Joseph Belfit, for Makino road at 2s 8d per yard ; Rink, for Wilson's line, afc 3s 2d per yard ; Sykes,' for Mackay's line, at 2s 6d per. yard; Behrendt, for Rangitawa road, at 3s per yard; Managb, for Stanway road, at 3s 3d per yard ; Sykes, for Kimbolton road, at 8s 6d per yard; Tingey Bros, tender at £15 for painting the Aorangi bridge be accepted, 7 . . Resolved, That J Henderson be sent to Palmerston to board there at 10s a week, as per offer from the Charitable Aid Board. The monthly accounts were, passed for. . _ payment and the Board adjourned.
