Palmerston District Hospital Board
+ The ordinary meeting of tho above was held at Palmerston last Tbursday, Present Mr G. M . Snelson in tbe chair, Messrs Taylor, Lethbridge, Purkiss, Goodbehere, Park, and Saxton. The following letter was read from tbe Hon W. P. Reeyes as follows : — I shall have much pleasure in asking the Cabinet to consent to tbe sum of £258 12s 5d being paid to you as special grant, subject to the subsidy to that amount being duly refunded by jou in tbe first place. If this course is pursued you will get your moy and the law will not be broken. If this proposal suits your Board I should be glad to hear from you. and will then lay the matter before my colleagues at the next Cabinet meeting. Mr Park moved, That the thanks of the Board be conveyed to the Government, through the Hon W. P. Reeves. for the special grant of L 258 12s 5d to the Hospital building fund. -Seconded by Mr Sexton and carried Mr Taylor proposed, That the Secretary ">e instructed to write to all reputable offices doing business in Palmerston explaining to tbem the facilities for fire prevention, and asked them on what terms they would undertake the risk on the Hospital and furniture.— Seconded by Mr Lethbridge, and carried. Mr Park moved, That the Secretary be instructed to write to Dr McGregor and inform bim that tbe Hospital building is almost completed, and to ask him to visit tho hospital and mako such suggestions as ho deemed necessary as to tho furnishing, etc. — Seconded Mr Goodbehere, and carried. The following accounts were passed for payment:— J. Miller, LIO 13s 4d ; H. Colliuson, L 3 ;W. Belk, L 3; R. Relf, L 6 IOs ; Mrs Iskirka, Ll 10s ; W. L Luxford and Co. Ll ss ; E. Chisham, Ll 4s ; Ross and Sandford,o3 6d ; Halcombe Town Board, LI7 4s; Foxton Borongh Council, L3l 10s lOd ; Wanganui Hospital Board, L3O 5s 7d ; A. Tanner, LB2 ; G- Carter, L 47 2s 2d ; W. Rowlins, L 75. On tbe motion of Mr Park it was decided that the Secretary be instructed to write to the trustees of the Bulls Hospital Fund and ask them to pay oyer the amount apportioned to the Palmerston Hospital. The meeting then adjourned.-
