TO THE EDITOII OF THE STAR. Sin,— -Will you allow me to protest against the closing of the letter box at the Feilding Public Library. The reason given for closing it, that it was not much used, " won't wash," as the number of busiuesses in the close vicinity is greater and of quite as much importance as those near either Mr Carthew's or Mr J. C. Thompson's premises, both of which places are accommodated with boxes. I would not like to suggest, or even dare to assuino for oue moment that it was anything else but a desire to protect the interests of the employers of our post office officials that prompted these gentlemen to have the letter box removed, but evil disposed persons might possibly be led to the belief that laziness had something to do with it. Tbe expense, of keeping this box open and clearing it j was nothing more than the timo it took a boy, who has now to walk past to tho one at Mr Thompson's, to step inside and remove the letters. I would like our postmaster to inform me how many letters per month were posted in this box, and how macy are now dropped into the new box at Mr Thompson's? I don't object to the box at the latter place, but it is extremely ridiculous to think that this box will be used more than the one at the Library when we consider the business surroundings, and the people from the country who posted their letters when they came for books. I hope those who have the power will restore the box at the Library office, and thus relieve the feelings and save the time of a Scribe.
