There is evidently " the dawn of a bright day " manifesting itself on the affairs of the Longburn Freezing Company. The Manawatu Daily Times of Tuesday last informs us that since opening this aeason the Company have frozen no less than 13,000 sheep. For the fortnight ending February 3rd, the paysheet amounted to ,£223. In addition to this, the firewood bill amounts to £"9 6s per day, and already tnllow casks to the value of £61 have been used. All this means money spent and placed in circulation in the district to the benefit of all. It should need no argument to show the desirability of keeping this industry in a flourishing condition, and, if necessary, increasing Ihe capital of the Company. Shareholders will also be glad to learn that the loss of £2000 shown in last balance sheet was more apparent than real, as returns since received for goods then in transit, bring the loss down to less than £800. There are also returns of 49 bales of wool to come yet. which will also show a credit balance. This is not only good news for the shareholders, but for every farmer in the district. The success of this company must exercise a direct and potent influence for good on the values of sheep and cattle owned within the radius of its operations.
