Beef — Forequarters, 2£d; hindquarters, 3fid. Hemp— Manilla 16 steady ; no New Zealand consignments are offering. Prices are unchanged. At the wool sales, a splendid selection of Victorian wool is offering. Prices show an upward tendency for high class combing. American buyers have operated heavily. Victorian realised from lOd to Is 2sd. January 29. The total quantity of wool catalogued up to date is 59,000 bales, ot which 58,400 bales have been sold. At yesterday's sales 14,000 bales were offered. There was a fair attendance of the public, and sales were brisk, the prices being firm. Com* pared with previous rates combings were sometimes a halfpenny and good lambs crossbred a halfpenny higher. Other sorts par to halfpenny lower. Eight thousand five hundred quarters of Australian wheat, January shipment, huve been sold at 31s 9d and parcels at 31s 3d, The English wheat market is weak, and prices are unchanged, while the Continental and American are steady.
