As regards the Household Troops, almost the entire eighteenth century was allowed to pass away without any adequate barrack accommodation being provided either for the cavalry or the infantry of the brigade, There was only a restricted military force at the ' Tower, and it was not until the destruction of the great storehouses in 1841 that barracks capable of holding an entire battalion were erected on a site of th c burnt buildings.
