We have to acknowledge receipt of tho time table of the Uuiou Steam Ship Company for the current month. Canterbury won the cricket match against Otago, after an exciting game, by two wickets. The funeral of tho lato Mrs Wright will take place at two o'clock to-morrow afternoon. Mr F. Pope is the undertaker. Tho funeral will take place to-morrow. Mr Jensen was in business for somo years in Feilding as a blacksmith. Ho leaves a widow and young family to mourn his loss. At a meeting of tho Wanganui Harbor Board josterday, a letter was received from tho Commissioner of Crown Lauds, enclosing draft covenant re sale of tho Mauawatu lands to tho Pohangina Small Farm Association and approving of same. Tbo Secretary stated that tho document had since been forwarded to tho Association. In refereDce to the Pohaugina township sactious tho Board were informed that they would bo scheduled ready for sale as soon as a htho had been published. A lady who had soon much of tho world was asked on ono occasion why plain girls often married sooner than handsome ones, to which she replied that it was owing mainly to tho tact of tho plain girls and the vanity and want of tact on the part of men.
