Welling ton Land Board Enquiry
PALMERSTON OFFICIALS CENSURED. LANDS AND FEES FORFEITED. (PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington. January 4. The Land Board this morning gave its decision in the enquiry held at Palmerston North last month in reference to applications for transfers from several selectors in connection with the Palruerston North Forest Reserye Homestead Association. The Board, was unanimously, of opinion that the selectors had tried to over-ride the provisions of the Land Act of 1892, and ordered the forfeitare *6f the lands and fees in connection with the applications and also passed.a^yQte^f^gggsure on the chairman, , secretary, and treasurer of the Association for their conduct in the matter. VW hen the Land Board met this morning' Mr^FitzhejcJbert 6aid his term of office expired sotrie 0 days ago, and as he was not re- appointed he retired from the meeting. ■ This'left'only a bare quorum present, the vacancy caused by Mr McCardle's resignation not being filled. : . , .., <• - -.
