Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report :— There was a very good attendance at Henson's sale yesterday and nearly all the stock, horses, and farm implements were sold under the hammer. Ewes with lambs from 4- tooth to fresh full mouth, 7s 9d per head, lambs counted; 2-tooth ewes, 12s; 2-tooth wethers, 10s 7d ; fat ewes and wethers, Us ; draught horses up to £18. The first Farmers' Alliance sale was held at Palmerston on the loth mst in the yards of the Alliauce lately takeu over from Messrs F. R. Jackson and Co., and the result can be considered as highly satisfactory. Notwithstanding the short notice, the entries were good, far more coming forward than were advertised. About 350 cattle and 2,500 sheep were yarded. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, aod the bidding was spirited, especially for cattle, every head being sold under the hammer hut a Jersey bull and a couple of cows. The sheep were far in i excess of the number advertised and some of them not of very good quality, and several lots did not reach the reserve. We would be glad if vendors would send in their entries so that we may haye them advertised. We quote. — Cattle — Fat bullocks, small, £5 15s ; fat cows. £5 7s ; 3-year springing heifers, £4 15s to £7 ; 2J-year springing heifers, £4 to £4 5s 6d ; store cows, £4 ; cows and calves, £4 12s ; 12 to 18-month steers, £2 14s6d; 18-month steers. £3 6s 6d ; yearling heifers, £2 12s 6d ; weaners, 30s to 35s 6d. Sheep.— 4 and 6-tooth wethers, 11s; wether hoggets, 10s 3d; ewes and lamba all counted 6s 4d ; fat ewes, 9s 9d to 11s 2d. We sold privately during the week 400 ewes and lambs at 14s 6d. Our next sale will be held at Palmerston on Thursday 29fch mat. for which we solicit entries.
