ANOTHER COLLIERY DISASTER 100 MINERS ENTOOMBED. By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION). London, December 14. An explosion has occurred in a colliery at Banfurling, in Wigan. Later news from the Homestead states that only six deaths have occurred among the non-unionists who partook of the poisoned food. Jay Gould's executors swear that he left seventy-two million dollars. News has been received that a thousand Yakin Indians have opened war on the J whites in Mexico, and are burning homesteads. A wealthy Spaniard and his two sons have been killed, besides six others. Five hundred soldiers have been sent in pursuit of the Indians. Washington, December 12. The Senate Committee favours the construction of the Nicaragua Canal, and are willing to guarantee honds to raise funds for carrying out the work. President Harrison declares there is a universal demand for the immediate construction of the Canal. December 13. The Committee of the Chicago World's Fair have asked Mr Gladstone to attend and deliver an address at the opening of the Exhibition. Other deaths at the Homestead haye been traced to poison. Inquiries made and au analysis of the powder introduced into the food showed it had a fatal effect. St. Petersburg, December 13. The deaths in Russia from cholera amount to 2,500 a week. Since the outbreak of cholera there hare been 550,000 cases in Russia, of which 260.U00 were fatal. Sofia, December 14. The Bulgarian Chamber of Deputies is pledged to support Prince Ferdinand's proposed alterations in the constitution. Paris, December 14. Rouvier has explained he resigned owinK to a suggestion of the press that lie was implicated with Reinach, whereas he had only in a spirit of humanity tried to serve the man whose honor and life were at stake.
