One member of the District Hospital Board asserted that with judicious management this expenditure could be cut down one half, At the Philosophical Society last night Sir James Hector regretted the Acclimatisation Society had put different kinds of trout m the same rivers, because a cross was sure to be the result and no good speciments could thereby be obtained. He states he had caught Loch Leyen trout in the Hutt river and fish which he believed was the true Cahfornian salmon. Dunedin, December 7. William Morrin. aged 25, was playing cricket at Horse Shoe Bend, near Box» burgh, yesterday, when he was struck on the forehead by the ball and died to-day.
