During his short time on the turf, Eedwood proved himself very fast, In the Canterbury Champagne Stakes (run in lm. 15ijs.) he had to meet such cracks as Carbine and Somneil. TOM PAY.NE is a dark-bay horse, with black points, standing nearly sixteen hands high, and is very compact and strongly built, having a good head and neck, with good sloping shoulders and deep girth ; good loins and deep quarters ; good sound legs and feet, and his temper is all that could be desired. Tom Payne is rising six years old, and is by Fleetwood's Don Juan; dam Jane, by the Norfolk trotting stallion Frickwillow— Nutwith mare. Tom Payne was exhibited twice only, viz.— Hawera in 1891, where he carried off first honours ; also, Palmerstoa North, in 1891, where he carried off 1 st prize, beating all comers. Tom Payne will travel as follows :— Monday, Feilding ; Tuesday, Palmerston ; Wednesday, Bulls i Friday, Upper Tutaenui; and the remainder of the week at the Club Stables.
