- ♦ ' in (PER PBEBB ASSOCIATION). Gketmouth. December 2. Mr Calders, postmaster, was presented with an address and ahandsomopurseof money this evening from over a hundred citizens, prior to leaving for Nelson to occupy the position of postmaster in that town. Chbistchurch, December 2 Dr Robinson, who has been here about 10 years, and was formerly house Burgeon of Christchurch Hospital, was found dead in bed this morning. Heart disease is supposed to have caused the death. Hokitika, Decerabei 2. A married woman, Mrs Keenan, was found dead in a water race at Rimu this morning. She left her house about 7 to feed the poultry, and apparently fell over the bank into the race, which was run* ing full at the time. Tlie body was found jummed against a culvert. Wellington, This Day. Finley was brought up for sentence this morning. Mr Jellicoe urged provocation in extenuation of the shooting, but the Chief Justice said that did not justify it. The sentence was ten years with hard labor,
