. ♦ The Board's Funds.— Mr Carson moved "That in view of the reduced amount received for building purposes, this Board is compelled to make the foU lowing representations to the head of the Government : That settlement is extend ing more rapidly und extensively on this West Coast than in any other part of New Zealand ; that the consequent urgent demand for school buildings is altogether beyond the power of the Board with its reduced means to overtake ; that in order to supplement a totally inadequate building fund this Board has from time to time impoverished its general account by transferring a sum of L6OOO to the fund for building purposes ; that notwithstanding this large transfer the Board is now over LIOOO in debt on the Building Account, and has not one penDj wherewith to meet the present urgent demands and the claims which may be expected to arrive during the whole of the next year ; and that a copy of the foregoing representations be forwarded to the Premier and the Minister of Education." Dr Bichardson's Text Book.— On the motion of Mr Bridge, seconded by Mr Sanson, it was resolved that Bichardson's "Temperance Lesson Book " and Buck , ton's " Health in the House" be used in the schools as science books. Apiti. — No funds were available to supply the fence desired. The Board then went into Committee to consider the Inspectors' reports.— Chronicle.
