Feilding Race Course
In view of the coming Spring meeting a roof has been put on the Grandstand at the Feilding Racecourse, and the addition greatly improves its appearance. The materials used in the roofing weigh nearly ten tons, and were put together on splice in a thoroughly workmanlike manner by Mr William Heald, who has done his job very well, nnder the supervision of Mr Charles- Bray, the architect. The stand accommodates about 230 persons, and if at this early stage we may venture on a prediction , we expect this will prove far too small for the public requirements, judging from the fact that the Club has received such splendid entries for its Spring meeting. The weights are now to hand. Mr Henry as usual appears to have made an excellent adjustment, and we do not anticipate that many owners will fail to accept. At present, there are only about twenty stalls on the ground, and Mr Heald has received instructions to erect eight more, with this we must be satisfied for the time being, though the stabling accommodation might even theu prove far too small for the number of horses which are likely to put in an appearance. A lady's retiring and cloak room has also been provided by the club for the convenience of its lady patrons. Given fine weather, we anticipate a most enjoyable meeting, and congratulate the Feilding Jockey Club on the assured success of its enterprise.
