The Oddfellows of Missouri, the Masons of the same State, and the Knights of Pythias of Ohio have recently decreed that liquor declers be not eligible to membership, and that if any are already in the organisation they must get out or else quit the business. . The General Assembly of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of America, in New York, have adopted the following resolutions :— *' That the law- of total abstinence be most rigidly enforced by the courts of the Churchy and any known violations of this law be promptly acted upon." " That the sessions warn their people against the use of intoxicants, for medicinal purposes, except upon the advice of reputablephysicians. '* We again approve of prohibition as the only efficient means by which the State can deal with the liquor traffic, and urge our people to do all they can consistently to secure and enforce it." The Minister of Public Instruction in New South Wales has decided tb place a copy of Dr Kichardeon's work on •« Drink and Strong Drink" inihe ; hands of every head teacher in the' public schools. Teachers will be required to impart to pupils instruction on the efFecte of alcohol.
