Birmingham Notes

We have the telephone posts delivered into the township, so 1 suppose they will soon be put in their places. It is to be hoped that after the experience of the mistake on the Awahun route the engineer will see that the said posts are not placed on the public roadway so as to be a nuisance and dangerous to Her Majesty's subjects.- The roadway at the entrance to our yillage is a perfect disgrace. The width between the opposite fences is ample, but some how or other the roadway useful for traffic is just wide enough for one vehicle at a time to go along. Logs and piles of firewood are allowed to be placed upon the sides, and foot passengers must, no matter how wet or muddy the road is, flounder through it, and run the risk of being knocked down by some galloping rider, whose sole idea is to see how near he can go to a pedestrian ; and if he has a companion and 3 or 4 dogs, so much more fun is to be got out of the passer- by. Then that lake, or lagoon, that has been noticed so of ten by various writers m the Star and Advocate, there it is, the black mud is festering and throwing off its germs of disease. I see you at Feildmg are discussing the question of I drainage. It would be a good thing ifsome of the local men here would bring the matter before the Board at their next meeting and pass a resolution that the matter be remedied at once.
