REPLY TO MR WHIBLEY.
TO THE EPITOE OF THE STAB. Sir,— ln your issue of November Bth is a long letter from F. W. Whibley on morality, ifec, and respect for clergymen. I know, sir, that controversies of a religious nature are ta- ! booed by all newspapers, and rightly ' so ; but there is one little matter that I should like Mr Whibley to explain to us, and that is : How is it that the greatest frauds we have had in the Australian colonies have either been by some dignitary, or notable person in connection with some church? Awaiting some explanation of this before I can respect a man simply on account of his profession. I am, etc., G. R. Lucas.
