(pee press association.) Dunedin, .November 7. On Saturday night a hostile demonstration was made against those shopkeepers who declined to fall in with the Saturday half-holiday movement. Customers were hooted and groaned at, the footpath blocked, and a large plate glass window in an establishment was smashed. The demonstration had the effect of making most of the shops draw down their shutters. Wellington. November 7. Major Sornmerville, Chairman of the New Zealand Rifle Association, has issued the programme for the 32nd annual meeting, which will be held on the Sommerville Range, Trentham, near Wellington, beginning on Thursday, sth January, and continued on the following days. Napieb, November 7. Thomas Peddie, licensee of the Clarendon Hotel, was fined £1 and costs for Sunday trading, and 10s costs for haying barmaids in the bar after 11 o'clock, John Fenwick, of the London Hotel, was fiDed £2 and costs for Sunday trading.
