Kiwitea Road Board
« , — (Continuation of Report). From Mr H. Whishaw, calling the Board's attention to the state of Edward street, Birmingham, and asking the Board to spend at least £60 on the road. From Thomas Powell of Huntemlle, requesting the Board not to pay any money due to him, to anyone else without communicating with his Solicitor, Mr Cuff, of Hunterville. From J. L, Rogers, of Waituna West, re the state of the Tapuae Ridge road, which is impassable owing to a slip. From Lands and Survey Department, to the effect that W. S. .Chubbin'a interest in section 11, block 5, Apiti is cancelled. From the Marton Mercury, requesting a share of the Board's advertising. From Thomas Wray, requesting the Board to put F. B. Mcßeth's name on the rate roll for section 53, block 16, Sandou Small Farms district; also from Priscilla Crabb, requesting to be put on the roll in place of J. W. McLaren, sections 16 and 17, block 15, Ongo district. From the Receiver of Land Revenue, stating that £38 7s 2d had been passed to the Bourd's credit on account of thirds due 19th February last, also that £227 78 dd due 13th June had been paid. From the Pohangina Road Board, re Oroua Valley road grant. From the Treasury, re half year's interest due from the Board on the Ist of August last, and calling the Board's attention to sections 24 and 31 Local Bodies Act 1886. From the Pohangina Road Board, re adjustment of accounts. Mr Oliphant waited upon the Board, with a request that they would make about 15 or 20 chains of roadway to his Bection id the Ongo Ward, Apiti district. The Board promised to • consider the matter, and send its Engineer to report as to the cost. Mr R. Taylor waited upon the Board, with a request that a road be made from the Tap ii road to the Kiwitea stream. The Board asked him to put his proposals in writing, when they should be duly considered. Proposed by Warden Morton, seconded Warden Homer, that the special order proposed at the Board's meeting on Saturday the 17th September, be hereby confirmed. — Carried. Resolved, That the Chairman and Mr Williamson be the deputation to meet the members of the Pohang ma Board, re the settlement of accounts between the two Boards. Resolved, That the Board's Solicitor be Mnsulted re Oroua Valley road. Proposed by Warden Homer, seconded by Warden Morton, that Messrs Younger and Lamg's deposit, for the metalling north of Peep-o'-day be returned.—Carpied. Resolyed, That the Secretary write Mr Whishaw, that all thirds which have been received by the Board have been spent, and that the balance has been applied for, but has not yet come to hand, but as* soon as receiyed, they -will be spent. Resolved, that the name of F, B. McBeth be put on the rate roll in place of rhomas Wray ; and that of P. Crabb in place of J. W, McLaren as requeeted. Resolved, That permission be given to Eall road lines on the usual terms to the following persons:— Thomas Chirm, E. A.
Marshall, D. Kam, E. Mason, aud A. E. Wbitehead. ■ Proposed by Warden Homer, seconded oy Warden Morton, that the Engineer mye an estimate for metalling a portion of the Whare road.— Carried. Resolved, That the Secretary reply to the Pohangina Board, stating that this Board will be agreeable for them to expend their portion of grant referred to ; the amount to be determined at next meeting. A number of accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
