The Feilding Star. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8, 1892. The Feilding State School
The parents of the children attending the Feilding State School are to be congratulated on the results of the last examination. The committee were so well satisfied that they passed the following resolution addressed to the head teacher : — " The committee desire to express their satisfaction with the result of the late examination considering what you have had to contend with during the year." During the time indicated there have been epidemics of influenza, diphtheria, and hoop- , ing cough, in consequence of which the, school was closed for nearly four weeks. Of course the members of the staff had also their share of sickness among them. The examination took place about fourteen days earlier than last year. We would urge upon parents the desirableness ot their doing a share of the good work by com - pelting the attendance of their children. It may appear a small matter now, but neglected opportunities for receiving education can never be regained, and many a man regrets in later U£e that his parents were weak enough to Jet hiio absent himself from school on what were only (nyff- , lous pretexts.
