Manchester Road Board

The following business was transacted after we went to press on Saturday last. Proposed by Mr Purkiss, seconded by Mr Reeye, That Dugald Henderson's application for a slaughtering license be granted. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Purkiss, That the Bunny thorpe-Stoney Creek xoad be maintained by the Manchester and Manawatu Road Boards, in terms of the agreement made between the counties interested at the time of the formation of the Oroua County, and that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Manawatu Road Board.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Pearce, That the stumping and clearing of Wyadham street be continued to Winchester street in Ashurst. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Purkiss, That the following names be placed on the rate book :— O. C. Pleasants in place of P. A. Peterson ; S. Ingram in place of T. Nilson ; C. Jansen in place of H. Derby ; and P. A. Petersen in place of John Splitt. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Purkiss, That this Board does not recognize any liability in regard to the Feild-ing-Bunnythorpe road, beyond Bailey's crossing on the south side, as though the road is vested in this Board, correspondence in the possession of the Board shows clearly it was and is against the wishes of this Board, and that the Manawatu Road Board be asked to produce the correspondence referred to by them in their communication to the Minister of Lands, and further that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Manawatu Board.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Pearce, That tenders be invited for the formation of about 5 chains of road in Winchester street to just past Mr Ward's gate in Ashurst.— Carried. Mr Remnant waited upon the Board with a request that they would widen the Penelope road. The Board promised to give the matter consideration. Proposed by Mr P,urkiss, seconded by Mr Reeve, That the Engineer call for tenders for the formation of McDonald's road from the Halcombe-Sandon road to Mr McDonald's homestead. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Pearce, seconded by Mr Purkiss, That Mr Burrell be informed that his claim is most unreasonable, and that failing a satisfactory agreement being arrived at, the land in dispute be taken under the Public Works Act. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Purkiss, That the tender of Mr Strawbridge for 16 chains in Yogel street for £31 Bs, of Russell at £3 7s per chain for Bunnythorpe footpaths, of Younger and Laing for Wyndham street at 11s 6d per chain, and that of Cameron tor metalling the Feilding- Ashurst road at 2s per yard be accepted by the Board. — Carried. The following were the various tenders :— Vogel street— Behrens, £31 10s; Younger and Laing, £34; Strawbridge, £31 Bs. Bunnytborpe footpaths— Russell £3 7s per chain; Foley, £B 17a 6d; Younger and Laing, £3 10s and 6s for road. Wyndham street — Younger and Laing, 11s 6d per chain ; Gallagher 12s 3d per chain. Feilding-Ashurst road — Belfit, 28 8d per yard ; Lyon, 4s Bid per yard; Cameron, 2s per yard; Younger and Laing, 3s 2d. The Board passed a number of accounts for payment and adjourned.
