Manchester Road Board
♦- ■ The regular monthly meeting of this Board was held to-day. Present— Messr s Purkiss, Pearce and Reeve. Mr Purkiss was voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was received : — From Goodbehere and Richmond, on behalf of Mr Burrell, agreeing to accept £'50. and their charges £5 6s 9d, as a settlement of -Mr BurrelPs claim against the Board, re the encroachment of Forlong's road on his property. From the Manawatu Road Board, stating that a petition has been received from ratepayers in Bunnythorpe, re a loan of Llooo', under the Act of 1886, for road formation, bridges, &c. at Bunnythorpe, on the railway line of road between Bunnythorpe station and the Newberry line. This portion of the road in question is under the Manchester Road Board District. A communication from the Minister of Lands asked this Board to take over the control of the road in question, but our Board has declined. The Board would probably have no objection to so doing, if the poll re loan proposal is earned. This Board requests the Manches ter Road Board to indemnify it in the eyent of the control of this road being vested m the Manchester Road Board. From P. Scheldt and rl Reeve, re forming footpath in frout of section opposite the Church at Bunnythorpe. From the following persons requesting to be put on the rate roll :— O. C Pleasants in place of P. A. Petersen ; Thomas Nelson in palce of S. Ingram, Junr ; P. A. Petersen in place of J. Splitt ; C Jansen in place of H- Derby. From the Halcombe Town Board stating that the Board's funds are not in a position to allow of any further expenditure on new works. From the Engineer to the Government Railways, Wanganui, statin? that the Oroua Bridge site should be on the regular line of road, west side of the railway at a distance of at least 45 feet from the railway bridge. From Department of Lands to the effect that the Oroua to Bunnythorpe road was vested in the Manchester Road Board at the Board's request. From Robert Lyon, ottering to supply metal for the Feilding-Ashurst road at 2s 8d per yard. A telegram from Mr Blixt, Ashurst, stating that a heavy slip had occurred on the Palmerston road side cutting for 500 yards. From Dugald Henderson, applying for a license to slaughter large and small cattle at Coiyton. From Mr Yogel, solicitor, Wellington, claiming LlO for metal taken by the Board from the Tokorangi block which is the property of certain native* who require payment from the Board for the metal used. From G. Hitchman, calling the Board's attention to the state of Kimbolton road opposite his property. [Left sitting.]
