Wills' Suprise Party

__ ♦— Surprise Party opened in the Princess's Theatre, Dunedin, to a packed house. The entertainment provided is' of the minstrel order; arid it is genuine fun, which anyone may enjoy, from beginning to end. On the rise of the curtain we find a number of ladies and gentlemen seated in; various parts ; of the stage, the principals forming a half circle, with bones (Mr George A. Jones), and tainbo (Mr Dave Gardner) as corner men, and an old Dunedin favourite, Miss Priscilla Vernei in the centre as interlocutrix. The programme put forward consisted of ballads, serib^- comic songs, pleasantries, specialties^ juggling, step-dancing, and the like, the whole completing a very enjoyable and amusing entertainment, with; which everyone of the: ' who crammed the building could hot but be satisfied. Many of the were prbv6*cative 61 the heartiest" laughter. The corner men's jokes we're all new, and that they were 'appreciated was amply proved by the hearty laughter they excited. In the. second] part of the entertainment the principal .feature was : undoubtedly the performance of Mons.; Prpvcfpiyho succeeded, in fairly astonishing the spectators with the clever work he carried on. His feat with the silver balls, which he whirled around himself at a very ra^id rate, was, perhaps, the p best part of his performance, but his triclw' with rswords, bottles, and plates; were. also; capitally executed, for which he receiyed a perfect storm of applause. This company will play here on Saturday next.
