Woman's Christian Temperance Union
The regular monthly meeting of the above Union was held on Thursday after noon. There was a good attendance of members, and Miss Dalrymple, the President, was in the chair. The Secretary, Miss Giesen, read the minutes of last meeting, which were confirmed. A letter was read from Mrs A. Lethbridge, stating that the ladies of Marton intended to form a branch of the Union in that town and invited ladies from the Feilding Union to be present at their first meeting. It was decided that Miss Dalrymple, Mrs Sorley, and Miss Giesen form the deputation on that occasion. A resolution was passed to have one huudred family pledge temperance cards printed. It was also resolved to ask the young women of Feilding to form a social club, at which Bible classes, music, fancy work, etc, could be held and a pleasant time spent. Mesdames Sorley, Lethbridge, and Caldwell were appointed as a committee to work up this idea. A discussion then ensued respecting the proposed Tea and Coffee palace, but nothing definite was done in the matter. The next meeting was fixed for 7.30 p.m. on the 20th of October, when each member could invite as many visitors as possible. This concluded the business and the meeting then adjourned.
