As wo feared, a decline in value of this staple has taken place since cloie of last series, as well be seen from the following cablegram received from our London manager, dated 20th inst -.—Since close of last sales scoured superior, medium and inferior greasy medium crossbred ire \d per lb lower ; greasy, washed and scoured coarse crossbred are also - 2 -d per lb lower. Fine Greasy crossbred lambs has declined £d to Id per lb. Other discriptions unchanged. Long staple merino is demand, but short growth is neglected, as also are wools of a faulty character. The total quantity catslogued to date is 78,000 bales, and the quantity withdrawn is 7500 bales. Sheepskins— No transaction in factory skins to report, no sheep being slaughtered far freezing for some weeks past. Country, dry and butchers' skins have come forward in fairly large quantities, but prices obtained, in sjmpatby with wool, have been xlightly lower. We quote butchers' crossbred from 4s to 4s 8d for best ; 3s 3d to 4s for medium ; country dry «kin 3, half wool, 3d to 4d, and tbreequarters to fulUwoolled up to 6£d Hides continue in fair demand at last quotations, viz. :— Heavy ox over 60lb, 3£d per lb ; under, from l£d to 2|d per Grass Seed*— A very fair enquiry tor rye grass. We quote— Machined Southern rje grass, at 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; Poverty Bay, 6s 3d to 63 9d ; Pacey's perennial rye. 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; bright heavy cocksfoot, up to 3|d per lb.
