Messrs Freeman R Jackson Co. report as follows :— A medium number of stock came forward at Warerley, and prices were on a par with those ruling at the former sale. At St. Hill Street a really good lot of cattle were yarded. Bidding wa* not so brisk, but we placed nearly all the lines at the quotations below. Sheep were in limited numbers, no fat sheep being penned. Pigs met a ready sale at late ruling rates. Sheep— At Waverley— Wethers, 13s 3d to 13s 6d; hoggets. 11s 6d. At St Hill Street— Shorn store w-thers, 9s 6d ; hoggets, 18s ; ewes and lambs, 16s Pigs.— Baconers. 30* to 47 s ; 14s 6d to 18s 6d ; store pigs, 7s 3d to lls ; small pigs, 4s to 6s 6d Messrs Lowes and Irons report under date, M asterton, September 22, as fol-lows:-We had full yards of cattle jes. terday. but only 1100 sheep consisting mainly of ewes, and lambs which sold freely, the mutton was dull of sale. Beef although realising good prices were not keenly competed for the reason pre aumably being the fact that tbe butcher* had bought considerably from private sources, the store caitle of all classes sold well, the bidding showing a good demand, the prices realised were for ewes and lambs 12s 6d for inferior to 15s 7d for good wooiled aged ewes with about 100 per cent of lambs ; fat sheep 15s 6d nominal. Fat cows and heifers from £5 10s to £6 15s ; small steers, £5 10s to L 6; dairy cows. 75s to L 5 2s 6d ; 2|-vear steers, 90s ; 2-jear steers, 60s to 70s"; young cows, 65s to 70s ; heifers. 60s to 655 ; yearlings to fifteen months mixed sexes, 535; calves, 30s to 40s; all the above cattle were good sorts but in light store condition.
