London Wool Markets
[PKR UNITED TKKSS ASSOCIATION! London. September 15. At the wool sales there is increased competition, and prices are fully maintained. Messrs Dalgety and Co (Limited), London, cabling UDder date ihe 13ih inst. to their Wellington representatives, Messrs Levin and Co., in reference to the September wool sales, report as follows : — The wool sales opened in the presence of a large number ot buyers, the competition being animated. The selection was poor and only small lots were offered. Prices are not yet established, and, as compared witn the closing figures of last sales, rates are unchanged for the bulk of transactions. The total quantity of wool available, including old stock, is 390.000 bales. Later. At the wool auctions prices are fully maintained, and there is an upward tendency for medium greasy sorls. French buvers arc very active, but German and English proceed cautiously. Canterbury mutton, 4d per Ib ; lamb hindquarters. 4 l-j. The ISew Zealand hemp market is quiet, but prices fully maintained.
