♦ Messrs Stevens and Gorton report as follows : — We had large entries of cattle at our sale in Palmerston on Thursday, but sheep were in very limited natnbers. Female stock showed a disposition to come down in value, but others mam* tained recent rates. The cattle were in short supply, and consequently made big money, two grand bullocKs from the Oroua Downs estate making as much as £12 7s a piece. We quote as follows : — Cattle.— Fat bullocks. £7 11s to £12 7s ; fat heifers, £5; 3*year steers. £4 17s ; heifers in calf, £3 15s to L5 Is ; cows in calf, L3 12s 6d to L4 ; empty heifers, £3 9s to £3 18s ; empty cows. £3 13s; yearlings, £2 5s to £2 15s; weaners, 38s to L2 Is : 2- year steers, L3 4s to L3 16s ; dairy cows, L5 to L6 6s. Sheep — Fat forward wethers, 13s lOd ; fat and forward ewes, 10s 3d to 13s 2d ; wether hoggets in wool, 13s Id ; do. shorn, 12s 7d ; others, 7s lid to 12s 5d ; ewes and lambs, 11s sd. Pigs.— Breeding sows, 17s 6d to 225.
