The Amalgamated Carpenters' Society of Broken Hill, has asked the Mine Owners' Association whether they could receive delegates from the miners if Eleath and Fergusson, the leaders of the strike, were excluded. The owners replied they would have met the men before August 25th if they had abandoned picketing j and other coersive measures, but they ! failed to see the utility of a conference now. The Federal Assembly of the Presbyterian Church has begun its session. The Rev. Mr McEachern, of Melbourne, was elected Moderator.
