-- — % — The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on the produce markets for the week ending Saturday, September 10th, 1892 as follows : — Wool — Locally, business in this staple is in very small compass, almost entirely confined in fact to odd lots of pieces, crutch ings, &c, for which there is a good demand at full rates. The new clip will shortly be to hand, and from all accounts should be of more than average quality, notwithstanding the exceedingly bad winter. Sheepskins— Only small quantities have come to hand, chiefly butchers' and country lines, fcr which, notwithstanding recent decline in London values, full rates have been obtained. We quote — Butchers crossbred* from 4s 3d to 4s 9d for best, 8s 6d to 4s 3d for medium ; country dry skins, half wool, 3£d to 4d, and threequarter to full-woolled, up to 6d per pound. Hides have been in fair demand at late rates. We quote — Ox hides, in good condition, weighing over 601 b, 3£d ; from 511 b to 591 b, 2fd; under 501 b, Hd per pound. Grass Seed — Orders are now coming in from the country, and rye grass and cocksfoot are moying off at an improvement at late rateß. We quote — Poverty Bay rye grass at 6s 3d to 6s 9d ; machined Southern rye grass at 4s 3d to ss ; imported English seed at 4s 6d to 4s 9d ; bright heavy cocksfoot at B£d to 4d ; discoloured and dirty seed, 2£d to 3d per lb, with however, but little enquiry for the latter. Frozen Meat — Our London manager cables on 3rd instant as follows :—Canterbury mutton is worth 4£d, and Wellington mutton 3Jd per pound. Prime New Zealand lambs are worth per carcase 6£d per pound. New Zealand beef, forequarters is worth 3£d, and hindquarters 5d per pound.
