London Wool Markets
|PBR UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION | London. September 13. The wool sales opened to-day with a catalogue of 10,639 bales, but the section was poor. There was a large attendance and good competition by Home and Continental buyers. At present there is no demand from America. Good wools were unchanged, but short and faulty fell 5 per cent below the July rates. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cable message from their London otfice, dated 13th instant : — Wool — The sales opened this day at the level of last sales, except for faulty, scoured and coarse crossbred, for which the market is easier. The attendance of both Home and foreign buyers is good, and competition on French account is active. The total quantity available, including wool held oyer from last series, is 390,000 bales, 59,000 of which haye been forwarded to the manufacturing districts direct.
