Juvenile Fancy Dress Ball
4> The above ball, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the funds of the Palmerston Hospital, was held in the Assembly Rooms, Feildiug, on Tuesday evening last, and was in every way a decided success. The programme opened with the Grand March in which some 18 couples took part, and was exceptionally well carried out, The other dances were a polka, Polish dance, barn dance, tennis dance, French basket dance, and the well-known Sir de Roger Coverley wound up the proceedings. The greatest credit is due to Mr Hyde-Parker for the excellent manner in whieh he had trained his apt pupils, and the whole affair also reflects highly to the credit of the little ones who took part in it. The following is a list of the characters : — Nancy Lee, Miss A. Parr ; Red, White ; and Blue, Miss Valentine ; Rose Buds, Miss L. Hill ; Lord Fauntleroy (2), Masters 'P. and J. Hill ; Night, Miss L. Wollerman ; Forget me Not, Miss E. Wollerman; Cherry Ripe, Miss A. Wollerman ; Punch, Master Wollerman ; Fair Maid of Perth, Miss E. Hamilton; Sergeant, Master Matthews; Tyrolese Boy, Master E. Haybittle ; Spanish Gipsy, Miss C. Adsett; Tambourine, Miss Myra Hamilton ; Olde Eng* lishe Lady©, Miss Mabel Hamilton ; Waitress, Miss N. Cramond; Spring, Miss M. Laing ; Sailor, Master A. Oliver ; Vivandiere. Miss C. Bilderbeck ; Rainbow, Miss B. Bilderbeck; Fairy Queen, Miss Isabel Oliver ; Base Ball Player, Master G. Haybittle ; Ace of Clubs, Master W. Bellve ; Evening Dress, Miss L. Rapley; Kate Greenaway, Miss Holden ; Jockey, Miss A. Smith ; Hearts, Master Rupert Bank ; Ivy, Miss Robinson ; Irish Girls, Misses E. and A. Pike. The programme concluded about 9.30, so far as the Juveniles were concerned, and then the adults took up tbe dancing to a merry tune, and kept affairs going till well into the small hours. A larger number of spectators Were present during the evening, the young ones at times coming in for well merited applause.* Miss Bellve officiated at the piano, and the excellent Feilding String Band played with its accustomed skill, snd the whole affair was a great success from every point of view.
