Accident at Oroua Bridge
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Palmerstom North, September 5. A tragic affair happened on the bridge over the Oroua, about 12 miles from here, at a place known as Oroua Bridge. A man named Peter Williams quarrelled with his mate James Head, and in the fight that onsned went oyer the bridge and into the river. Tins Day. In connection with the Oroua Bridge accident it appears the deceased and a man named Peter Williams were skylarking on the bridge, and during the play Head was thrown against the handrail ot the bridge which, giving way, allowed Head to fall on the a distance of about 4 feet, from thence into the river a further distance of 12 feet. The police are of opinion that deceased broke his nock in the first full. Williams was arrested and will bo charged with manslaughter to day and remanded.
