The Colonist Land and Loan Corporation We are indebted to Mr C. Dugald Buckler, Secretary of the Colonists' Land and Loan Corporation, Limited, in London, for a copy of the report on the operations of the Corporation, balance sheet for the year ended 31st March ; also the Director's Report presented at the general meeting of shareholders held on July 29th, 1892. Touching reference is made in the latter to the " death of Mr Macarthur, who for about 18 years had been its most trusted representative, and to whose zeal intelligence, and untiring energy so much of the success of its operations are due." The Revenue account for the year shows a profit of £4265 17s 6d, of which £762 9s 6d was brought forward from last year, making a total of £5028 7s. A dividend of 5 per cent was recommended. The Special Reserve of profits stands at £16,712 9s Id, and the Ordinary Reserve at £8000. Debentures out standing £100,000. Mortgages £166,---184 on securities valued at £326,521. • The satisfactory result of the Corporation's loan business is evidenced by the fact that the receipts for interest on loans amounted to £11,430 2s lid, while the interest paid on debentures was only £4449, 18s Bd. The expenditure in New Zealand was £2379 4s Bd, of which sum £1040 8s 2d was for rates and taxes. Salaries, postages, printing and advertising only totalled £926 0s lOd, which shows very economical management Cash in haDd in London and New Zealand amounted to £8032 8s Id, and bills -reclivable, £3000. The shareholders are to be congratulated on the sound financial position of the Corporation.
