■ : _4 r : — : The ordinary monthly meeting of the Education Board was held last Monday and Tuesday. .Messrs' Carson (in the chair), Sanson, Bridge, Baker, Fry, Notman, Hurley, Beckett, and the Bey. James Boss, were present. ■'•■.■ Appointments. Pohangina.— Mr Woodham was appointed bead teacher, t .. Hiwinui.— A number of. names were sent to the Committee from which to fill the vacancy caused by Mr Goldsbufy's resignation. '. Bunnythorpe.— Applications from Miss Alicia Prendergast to be transferred to Terrace End was referred to the Executive Committee. Colyton.— A letter was read from the Commissioners as to the query raised by the Board whether the teacher was occupying the residence or not. The letter stated that the teacher occupied the residence on all days except Friday, Saturday, and Sunday .r^Mr Sanion moved that the Commissioners be asked to sanction three months' notice to the master as he absolutely refused to porperly occupy the house in defiance of the Board. — Mr Notman seconded the motion.— Several members spoke against the motion, contending that if the teacher did the work required of him in the school in a satisfactory manner it did not con. cern the Board whether he occupied his spare time in farming or anything else. — The motion was* put to the meeting and carried by 5 votes to 4. Wanganui Harbour Board Block.— lt was/decided to accept the. two acres of land offered for a school site, the Board bearing the expenses of the survey and transfer. Believing Teachers.— lt was resolved to give the present relieving teacher three months' notice to terminate his engagement as relieving teacher with the Board, and offer the position to Mr Jenkins, of Torakina. Pemberton.-fAn application was made for fencing the ground, and on the motion for Mr Beckett it was agreed to ask the Committee for an estimate. A second application for a teacher's residence was made, and it was agreed to instruct the Architect to draw up plans and specifications.
