Mrs Bell fre-callcd) to-day was less certaiu that her husband said John McRae shot him, it might have been "Donald." Bell's daughter Jcmnie also gave evidence. Sergeant McDonnell gave evidence that McEae nvule a statement to the effect that »n the 18th May. 1891, h" saw (he gun, found where Bell was murdered, in the hands of Pat Walsh, who was out shooting ducks. He (McKne) would aweir that the ramrod he saw in the con stable's hands after the murder was the same ns Walsh hid in the »un last year. Walsh iTa« called, nnd denied that he was out of his master's house on the night o\ the murder. The »un produced he had never seen before, and never had a eun to his name. Did not remember meetinc Mcßae on the 18th May, 1891, but this year about March or April met him when out shooting with Taylor's gun. Had a slight quarrel with Bell five years ago. but had been on good terms with him since. The other evidence threw no light on the affair. The ownership of: the gun is still a mystery. The jury returned a verdict that Bell was murdered by some person or persons unknown. McKae will be kept in custody, and has been remanded till the 18th. inst.
