Birmingham Notes

. . ■•» — rrr- — - [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Bad weather is tho order of the day and the roads are in a deplorable condition. Several yery heavy landslips have occurred on the Pemberton road, which means a lot of extra expense to the Road Board. The social at Kiwitea was a great suet cess. Why were the Kiwitea singers so backward at oommg forward ? In moving a vote of thanks Mr Anyon thought that the Kiwitea people should go in for a church. A good idea and are easily carried out if they would only put their " shoulder to the wheel." The Bey Mr Keall, of Palmerston N., paid us a visij last week. He preached at Pemberton on Sunday afternoon and at Birmingham in the. evening. It was & very wet day but a fair congregation turned gut at night and, heard a very good sermon from Acts; 9, 15. Bad weather does not apoearto damp the ardour of the Birminghamites/ The Wesleyan Church is progressing and if the weather would only clear up it would soon be completed. , ; We hear that another concert is nnder way, the funds of which are to go towards the purchase of an organ for the church.
