LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Wellington, June 12. The Hon. Mr Stevens moved that a Select Committee be appointed to inquire into and report upou " The Consolidated Stock Act, 1884." The motion was debated at great length. Sir Patrick Buckley expressed the hope that it would not be pressed, as he feared a conflict between the two houses of the Legislature would be the outcome. The motion was carried by 17 to 7. The Council rose at 4.5.
