TO THE EDITOR OF TUE STAR Sir,— The leaf-lot issued the other day and published in the local papers doaliug with Mr Jobn Steyens' Parliamentary career having damaged his cause so much hia party are now endeavouring to regain lost ground by asserting in a general way that that leaflet contains nothing but a tissue of fabrication. Now, sir, if that is so. why did not Mr Stevens accept Mr Piram's challenge, given at the time, and meet him on a public platform and eudeayour to refoea at least one single statement contained therein. Mr Stevens musl not take us all for greenhorns. Still, we are open to conviction, and if he can proyo his case let him do so. I am, etc.. J. F. Sicely.
