Birmingham Notes

» . — _ FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) We have at last got a working saddler Casting in his lot amongst us, so that the trade list is gradually filling up. The chemist, watchmaker, wheelwright, and coach builder have not arrived, yet but will do so in due course, no doubt. There is always a stagnant pool of water opposite the Town Hall, as the road falls both ways It has no outlet. The land on both sides being- private property of course the owners object to their places being flooded. What is wanted is that a cess- pit be formed and pipes laid in to a part of the road where it is of a lower level, the water could then flow along the side of the road and so do away with the liuisance before the hot weather sets in, as the stench from it then is very bad. Perhaps Mr Bray will kindly see iuto the matter. We were led to suppose the Wesleyan Church would haye been erected ere this, but at present there are uo signs of the work being commenced.
