♦» By Htjia. I hear that the "At Homo" days are doomed to follow many other fashions. People who used to have thora every week have reduced them to once a month and the most recent developement is to inscribe the " fifth " Weduesday, etc., on the card thus putting the "At Home " days off to every three months, and it will, no doubt in time be discarded altogether. Cookery, Wheatroeal Gingerbread.— Ten ounces of wheatmeal, half a. pound of treacle, a few carrawajs, half an ounce of ground ginger. Rub m the butter to the dry ingredients, mix all with the treacle and a quarter of a pint of new milk, in which a teaspoonful of soda has been disojved. Bake in a buttered tin in a slow OV6U. Pound Cakes.— Half a pound of flour, half pound white sugar, four eggs, and two teaspoonsfuls of extract of lemon, beat the butter to a cream, add the sugar and flour and lastly the eggs well beaten. Beat the mixture for twenty minutes. Cover the cake tin with buttered paper, and bake m a moderate oven for one hour, or drop the mixture into patty pans and bake twenty minutes.
