A meeting of delegates of the Mana* watu Hugby Union was held at Bulls on Wednesday night, when all the delegates were present except those from Hunterville. Several verbal alterations in the rules were made, including the excision of the clause regarding a free kick from a knock-on. The question of opposing clubs in matches wearing distinctive colours was brought up, and a recommendation was passed that the matter be considered by the Rugby Union at commencement of next seasou. The protest of the Marlon Seniors against Palmerston being awarded the try in the match between the teams at Marton last Satur day was considered, and after a lengthy discussion, it was decided by 6 to 8 that the protest be allowed. Mr Speed, on behalf of the Palmerston Club, then gave notice of appeal to the N.Z. Rugby Union. The following junior protests were then considered . — Awalmri y. Feild ing 11., Bulls v. Marton 11., Bulls v. Feilding 11., Kea Kaha v. Marton 11. The protests were made on the ground that senior players took part in these matches, in contravention of pule 5 " Championship matches " All the protests were upheld, and the matches ordered to be played orer again on the grounds of the protesting clubs, with (he exception of the Bulls-Marton mutch, in which the protesting club, Bulls, were the victors. It may be noted that the rule distinctly provides thai in Ihe event of a player taking part in a senior contest, permission must be given by the Match. Committee of the Union for his
transference to the junior ranks before he can take part in junio" con'ests. The Feilding seniors went to Marton to-day to try conclusions witli the Marton club. Tlie Feilding juniors played Kea Kaha at Pulmerston this afternoon.
