MANIFESTO FJJO.M THE NA» TIONAL LEAGUE. MR GLADSTONE AND HOME RULE. (per press association. London, June 16. Eeplying to the invitation of the Mc« Carthy section of the Irish Party, Mr Edward Blake, Q. 0., ex-leader of the Canadian Liberal Party, has consented to contest an Irish seat ia the interests of Home Rule, The Irish National League of Groat Britain, in its manifesto, declares that in the event of Ireland losing Home Kule the blame will be cast on the McCarthyites, owing to the latter's refusal to assist in healing the breach betweeu the parties. Mr Gladstone pointed out to the Eight Hours Deputation that one great object of his remaining years of life was to secure Homo Rule for Ireland. The statement that the Pope has in structed Archbishop Vaughan not to interfere in political matters is denied. Twelve thousand delegates will be pro gent at the Ulster Conference. The guarantee fund amounts to £L 7,000. Two hundred thousand tickets are issued for the meeting to-morrow, and great enthusiasm is being shown over the whole of Ireland. Juno 17. Belfast is crowded with people attracted by the Ulster Convention, and the town is gorgeously decorated. Business is suspended, and the people seem profoundly in earnest.
