Ladies' Column

By Hxjia. I hear the spinster ball is fixed for Tuesday, the 21st.. It promises to be a great success There are many I know who will be only too glad to contradict the statement " that the Feilding spinsters only give a dance every leap year." FASHION NOTES. For evening dress, tho new sash with a big bow between the shoulders reaching almost from one arm to the other, aud very long ends fcouchiag the bottom of the skirts are very much worn, the ends are either fringed or are edged with feather tnmmiug. Lace was never more popular than it is now, and is used both for evening and day dresses. Brown is a favorite color jii3t now either mixed with green or grey or alone. Very bright shades of blues and greens are used in millinery, and the rainbow ribbon is very pretty and effective. Mantles are worn much looser, the backs being quite without shape and the fronts having pleats, they have full sleeves and deep cuffs and tne collar is of fur. The Talma cloak is I think one of tho prettiest. It is n new circular cloak with a high puffed heading at the edge of a pointed yoke. The bonnets I am glad to say are getting a little larger, the very tiny ones so much worn lately were not generally becoming. Lasting Wear.— Things that will wear are not to be got cheap. Whether it be a fabnc or a principle, if it is to endure it must cost something.
