The City Licensing Bench unexpectedly intimated at the annual meeting to-day that the licenses for the following hotels would be taken away on the ground that they were not required in the neighbours hood ;— Newmarket, George, National, Tork, London, (Dam's Princess- street), Occidental, White Horse, and Liverpool Arms. On the application of counsel tne matier was adjourned for a fortnight. Mastkrton, This Day. Mr Hogg addressed a large meeting of electors last night. A vote of thanks to Mr Hogg and of confidence in the Government wa? passed. Wellington, June 3. It is the intention of the Crown that Harrison and Smith, indicted on a charge of wilful murder at Pahiatua, shall be tried separately.
